The Ultimate Guide to Homepage Options

"Do I need a homepage for my coaching biz?"

That is a question my team and I get to hear all the time.

And as so many things, there isn’t a clear yes or no answer.

Having a homepage can definitely be a valuable asset for your coaching business.

It's a platform to showcase your brilliance, promote your services, and give potential clients all the juicy details they need to say yes! to working with you. Plus, it adds a level of professionalism and credibility to your biz.

But, homepage building is often used as an excuse to delay the kick off a business.

Take it from me. I spent weeks on building and designing my very first homepage. I didn’t dare to publish it until I had defined my different offers.

This was even before I had gotten any paying clients!

I have changed offers, and the definition of my Ideal Clients many times since then - so the time I invested in building my homepage had been better invested in finding paying clients.

I would therefore advice you to NOT invest in building a website, before you really know what it is that you want to do, and who you will work with - and you won’t know that until you’ve had your coaching business for a while.

And even then, I would advice you NOT to design it and build it on your own. Hire a specialist who knows their craft.

And here's the thing, there are plenty of other ways to showcase your brand and get your coaching biz out there.

💥 Social media

As a coach, you can use Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube or even TikTok to show off your awesomeness.

On Instagram, for example, you can set up a linktree in your bio to give your followers multiple ways to connect with you.

We would advice you to pick ONE platform in the beginning, and go all in on that one. Pick the one where you feel most comfortable, and where your Ideal Clients hang out.

💥 Email marketing

Platforms like ConvertKit*, and Mailchimp have multiple functionalities that go beyond just collecting email addresses.

We love ConvertKit, it's user-friendly and you don't have to deal with custom code or domains.

Kajabi* who might be best known for offering a platform where you can host your online courses also includes email as a functionality.

Building an email list is really important. It is the only way that you can communicate with your prospects and clients if any of the Social Media platforms would become unavailable, or decide to block or delete your account.

💥 Landing page

A landing page is a specific page designed with a single focused objective in mind, such as capturing leads, promoting a product or service, or directing visitors to take a specific action.

A homepage provides information about a particular subject and can have multiple goals, and include several pages such as “blogs”, “about” and “services”, whereas a landing page has a more focused, specific purpose.

You can build single-page landing pages with forms that connect to your email marketing and sell your services.

ConvertKit* and Kajabi* offers this too, and we also love Leadpages*. These platforms are super easy to use, even for non-techies!

So, you see, before you start building your homepage, rather focus on building your audience on ONE social media platform of your choice, collect email addresses of prospects, and focus on building the KNOW, LIKE & TRUST (KLT).

Once you have that KLT it will be so much easier to convert those prospects into clients. Just having a homepage will not turn anyone into a client.
