She made my day
I was in the post office last Saturday to send a package to Sweden. I quickly scanned the office but couldn’t find any of those stickers that you need to fill in to be able to send a package abroad. I sighed.
This meant that I couldn’t prepare my package in advance. This meant that I would take up more time than the average client when it would be my turn. I pulled my ticket. Number 224. 11 minutes waiting time. All the tills were open. Still, the waiting area was full of expecting customers. I continued searching the post office for my stickers.
Pens, children books, novels, chewing gum, mobile phones, subscriptions, vouchers for a massage whatever you could wish for, you could pick up at the post office. Even national parcel stickers. But no parcel stickers for packages to be sent abroad.

Hello! No-one?!
217 – oh shoot, that meant that someone got tired of waiting and even left before it was their turn.
We talk ten minutes. Someone was so impatient they couldn’t even wait for ten minutes.
I knew what this meant. I expected my post officer to be in a bad mood. I just knew that the post officer would sigh loudly and give me the evil eye when I came to the till and would reveal that I have a package to send to Sweden. An unprepared package. I started to dread the moment that my number would come up on the screen.

That’s me!
With a straight back and a confident smile, I walked up to the till. Ms. S’ till.
“Grüezi, I have to send a package abroad.” I said.
“Welcome! Where to abroad?” Ms. S greeted me friendly and with a big smile. Together we prepared the necessary papers for the package, we chatted and laughed.
I am certain that she had an extremely stressful day. While I waited for my turn, I overheard stressed customers talking. In addition to this, the Corona Virus is making everyone even more tense and nervous.
Independently of this, Ms. S made me feel welcome and gave me the best service that I can even wish for. I walked out of the post office with the biggest smile. The reason was that Ms. S made my day.
She treated me as her favorite client. She made me feel cherished.
We have all met Ms. S’ opposite – the grumpy and rude service person. It’s almost sad that I was surprised by how Ms. S treated me, that should rather be the normal and not the exception.
I am currently planning and defining my own business and services…
Ms. S is my inspiration.
